City Park Bandstand Program, October 6, 5:30 pm

The City Park Bandstand Rebuilding Fund, initiated by City Park Friends and Neighbors (CPFAN), City Park Alliance (CPA)and Kyle Clark’s Channel 9 Word of Thanks Fund, after a fire destroyed the historic structure, raised $125,579 from more than 900 donors. Now philanthropists, Scott Miller and Tim Gill have matched the amount raised, so our goal of $250,000 has been met! Miller was jogging through City Park when he saw the burnt out Bandstand, home to City Park Jazz, City Park Day concerts, quinceaneras, weddings and countless other events standing abandoned in front of the Pavilion. Miller approached his partner, Gill about making a donation and the Gill Foundation promptly made the commitment.

In celebration of this successful fundraising campaign where the Denver community came together so resoundingly to save the beloved landmark, CPFAN will host a program focused on next steps for the Bandstand. Gordon Robertson, Denver Parks and Recreation’s Director of Planning Design and Construction will lead the informational session along with other staff. Other speakers will be announced.

Join us to learn about the design, special features and materials planned for the new reiteration of the historic Bandstand. Also meet with the community fundraisers you supported to make the new Bandstand a reality. We’ll discuss new projects and campaigns to benefit City Park, the People’s Park and welcome your input.

The event will take place at Carla Madison Recreation Center, 2401 E. Colfax Ave, with parking to the rear off 16th Ave. There will be a short CPFAN Board meeting at 5:30 pm. The Program will begin at 6 pm. Light refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you at this happy event!
