The City Park Friends and Neighbors (CPFAN) Annual Meeting began via Zoom at 6 pm on Tuesday, April 27. CPFAN President Georgia Garnsey welcomed CPFAN members present to the night’s program presented by People and Pollinators Chief Coordinator, Joyce Kennedy. Joyce inspired everyone in attendance with her passion for and knowledgeability about the way we, the public, can actively promote vital protections for the pollinators who benefit our environment so critically.
Following the program, President Garnsey called the Annual Meeting to order. She asked for a roll call of all CPFAN members present. CPFAN members in attendance were: Woody Garnsey, William Jurascheck, Jewel Wegs, Thomas Wegs, Jeffrey Kent, Joe Mauro, Nancy Brauer, Jacqui Shumway, Stephen V. Eppler, Maria Flora, and Barbara Wright. CPFAN Board members in attendance were: Fred Bender, John Brett, Georgia Garnsey, Sandy Robnett, Laurence Loftin, Jacqueline Victor and Patty Paul.
Following the roll call, Georgia introduced the slate of eight candidates put forward to serve one year terms on the CPFAN Board for 2021-22. The eight candidates, as announced two weeks in advance of the Annual Meeting through the CPFAN April newsletter, were Fred Bender, John Brett, Kelly Crosby, Georgia Garnsey, Keith Loftin, Sandrea Robnett and Jacqueline Victor.
Georgia then asked for nominations from the floor. Fred Bender nominated Joe Mauro. Joe accepted the nomination.
All nine candidates for the CPFAN Board, introduced themselves and articulated their reasons for wanting to serve on the CPFAN Board.
CPFAN members in attendance were then instructed to submit their vote for the eight candidates of their choice by email to independent vote counter, Tom Morris. Georgia said that the results of the election would be conveyed to the voters when Tom had finished the count and submitted his findings.
Georgia thanked the CPFAN members who had attended the CPFAN 2021 Annual Meeting for their critical participation in the election process. She adjourned the meeting at 7:30 pm.
