6:30 Program                                                                                                                                          Jeff Prink, Denver Parks and Recreation, Manager of Irrigation Design and Projects

Jeff presented the Irrigation Master Plan, created by DPR with Avocet Irrigation design and Mundus Bishop Design. The Master Plan started funding in late 2019.

City Park is 265 acres, with 175 irrigated acres. Water conservation is a guiding principle, “critical for…long term health of the parkâ€. Goals are to improve control and identify low water landscape conversion opportunities. Phase priority will be based on what is most efficient and maintenance needs.

The first priority is the new Pumping Station, scheduled for January 1923. Cost is estimated to be $2,750,000. Flow will be increased from 3000 gallons per minute to a maximum of 4800 gallons per minute.

Potable water will be used in the Pinetum area. Non-potable water will be used everywhere else. The De Boer Waterway is considered a restoration area, not a play area, so it will use non-potable water.

HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) pipe will be used. It has a 50-year rating.

Total cost/budget of the Irrigation Master Plan is $30,748,000.

The South Meadow and meadow west of the museum is Area I of the plan. Estimated cost for Area I is $6,371,000.

DPL has approximately $2,000,000 per year for implementing the Irrigation Master Plan.

Jeff will send a copy of the Irrigation master Plan.
