  2. Secretary’s Minutes for May 3, 2022, prepared by Brooke Badon, accepted

III. Treasurer’s Report, Joe Mauro, accepted

  1. Announcements: Tree Tour, June 21, 5:30, with Denver Forester, Ben Rickenbacker. Sign-up sheet is on the table.
  2. Round Table discussion, South Meadow Conversion Introduction of East High Sustainability Club members: Caden, 9th grade, Beckett, 9th grade, Gabriel, senior, president of club                                                                                                                                       Interests: reforested Marshall project, 400 trees throughout Park Hill, Climate Action Policy for DPS. Over 100 members                                                                                                                                         South Meadow project, creating a water conserving landscape. Funds will come from Capital Improvement Fund.                                                                                                                                                                          Students are interested in participating in project.                                                                                                                                                                      Jessica Zender (Candy CdeBaca’s office)- meeting with member of Denver Water Board, also Botanic Gardens, will discuss incentives to switch from bluegrass. Long range project. Will send info on project to East High students.                                                                                                                                                         Mike (w/Denver Field Ornithology) birders can leverage programs already set up for birds and wildlife, plants and animals.  Can envision a more supportive environment. Can their group support this project? Can reach 1700-2000 people.

  4. John Brett: May 7 Birding/History City Park Tour        Our first CPFAN event, 12 attendees, 1 ½ hours. An eagle flew over as tour wrapped up. Attendees want longer tour.
  5. Georgia (for Fred Bender): Adopt-A-Flowerbed 50 volunteers from all around the park this year, 6 teams. Can make donations thru Denver Park Trust for plants.
  6. Patty: Denver’s City Park reprinting Currently working on getting photo releases and a plaque or other recognition for Bette Peters.

Vet at Alameda East since 1982, board member of Denver Zoo

Presented videos of his work in Mongolia at the Nature Reserve with endangered species, including vultures, putting radio collars on bighorn sheep, and working with hedgehogs. He is training the next generation of conservation biologists there.

“In conservation, our successes are temporary, but our failures are permanent.â€

He also shared a video of relocating polar bears by helicopter in Manitoba.
