Annual Board Meeting

Board members in attendance: Georgia Garnsey, Sandy Robnett, Fred Bender, Patty Paul, John Brett, Kelly Crosby, Joe Mauro

 

  1. Board meeting called to order 5:40 PM     Introduction by Georgia Garnsey, board president, giving a brief history of CPFAN. This is our 8th annual meeting. Our mission is to protect the classical, pastoral character of City Park.

 

  1. Presentation by Frank Rowe, Executive Director, Denver Park Trust, amd founder along with Kendra Black. Denver Park Trust is a fund-raising organization that provides funds to underfunded parks. May 21st is Colorado Public Lands Day. There will be tree planting from 10:00-12:00 in City Park, with a celebration/open house following.

 

  • Secretary’s Report Joe moved to approve minutes for 3/1/2022 meeting. John seconded. Approved as read.

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report                                                                             Sandy moved to accept report. Kelly seconded motion. Treasurer’s report approved as read.

 

  1. Committee Reports

1) John, May 7th tour of City Park                                                                       John and Patrick O’Driscoll will lead a birding/history tour of City Park at 8:30 AM on May 7th. CPFAN is sponsoring the tour and will request a donation from participants.

2) Fred, Adopt-A-Flowerbed program                                                                        The program had 35 solid volunteers throughout the growing season last year. Every flowerbed will be planted this year. There will be a tour of the Greenhouses in City Park on April 19th with Julie Lehman, head horticulturist for DPR.

3) Patty, Denver’s City Park book  We have estimates from the printer and will send out an inquiry to CPFAN members to get an idea of how many people are interested in getting books before deciding on quantity to order. We are obtaining an ISBN number and clarifying copyright information.

  1. Election, Board of Directors    All nominees gave a brief introduction and of themselves, their background and their reason for wanting to serve on the board. Ballots were passed out to each attendee and collected. Zoom attendees voted by e-mail.

6:30 Program                                                                                                         Katy Charles, a photographer specializing in photographs of City Park, presented a slide show of her City Park photographs and historic photos showing the historic progression of City Park along with a musical sound track.
